About the OpportunityWhite Rock Iron is looking for a full‑time Metal Fabricator based on‑site in Delta, BC
. This role is offered on either a day shift (6:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., Monday to Friday) or an afternoon shift (four 10‑hour shifts from 2:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Monday to Thursday), with candidates expected to work a consistent assigned shift.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will play a key role in supporting shop‑based fabrication operations by producing high‑quality structural steel components while contributing to safe, efficient, and collaborative workflows.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for fabricating, assembling, and finishing structural steel components from shop drawings, supporting both day and afternoon shifts while working closely with fellow fabricators and apprentices.
Responsibilities- Interpreting and working from detailed shop and fabrication drawings
- Measuring, laying out, cutting, forming, and shaping structural steel components
- Operating fabrication equipment including brakes, shears, saws, punches, overhead cranes, forklifts, and related machinery
- Welding and fitting components using appropriate techniques to meet quality and safety standards
- Assembling sub‑units and finished components accurately and efficiently
- Adapting to changing shop priorities and shifting between tasks as required
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safety‑focused work environment
- Supporting training and guidance of apprentices as needed within the shop
To qualify, you will need a Red Seal Metal Fabricator (Fitter) certification or an equivalent trade qualification, along with 3+ years of experience working in a structural steel or metal fabrication shop environment

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Proven experience reading and interpreting detailed shop and fabrication drawings
- Hands‑on experience fabricating structural steel components rather than repetitive jig‑based work
- Proficiency operating shop equipment such as saws, shears, brakes, punches, forklifts, and overhead cranes
- Solid welding and fitting experience appropriate to structural steel fabrication
- Comfort shifting between tasks and adapting to changing shop priorities
- Experience working alongside and supporting apprentices in a shop environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to precision and quality
- Familiarity with shop safety standards, material handling, and housekeeping best practices
- Valid driver’s licence (preferred)
