Overview
This post offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced dynamic haemodialysis nurse to join the established caring team on the dialysis unit at Glan Clwyd. The post holder will be required to provide ongoing support to the ward manager and assist with the management and organisation of the clinical area. The nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence‑based nursing care for patients receiving haemodialysis, haemodiafiltration or plasma exchange, contribute to the education, development and line management of other staff members, qualified and unqualified, and work collaboratively and cooperatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families with minimal or no supervision.
Participation in the dialysis unit on‑call team is required as part of this senior role, along with assisting with the development of ward‑based dialysis provision on the established renal ward.
Responsibilities- Support the BCULB in achieving Renal Association guidelines.
- Independently refer to other professionals in the case of patient need.
- In conjunction with medical teams, assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence‑based programmes of care for patients on haemodialysis, haemofiltration, haemodialfiltration, and plasma exchange.
- Facilitate, monitor and improve care directly and indirectly.
- Supervise practice, carry out clinical audit and develop practice through knowledge of research and teaching of professional colleagues.
- Provide a consistent approach and share best practice across BCULHB.
- Manage own caseload of patients, organising and monitoring haemodialysis provision.
- Assist with adequate staffing levels on the dialysis unit and the dedicated renal ward as required.
- Liaise regularly with haemodialysis nurses across BCU.

- Registered Nurse
- National recognised renal qualification or equivalent experience
- Teaching qualification
- Degree or working towards a degree

- Experience of staff/patient education
- Understanding of renal NSW/Policies
- Report writing
- Experience of managing multidisciplinary teams
- Experience of change management
- Experience of collaboration for service development
– Essential Criteria
- IT skills, knowledge of in‑centre HD and HHD
- Sound knowledge of vascular access
- Experience with in‑centre HD and HHD
