We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established civil engineering contractor based in Derby who is looking to bring a Civils Estimator into their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious estimator seeking long-term career progression within a stable and growing business.

The Role

As Civils Estimator, you’ll play a key part in pricing and securing work across a range of civil engineering projects including groundworks, infrastructure, drainage, highways, and earthworks. You’ll work closely with the commercial and operations teams to prepare accurate tenders and help drive successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare detailed cost estimates and tenders for civil engineering projects

* Analyse drawings, specifications, and technical documents

* Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for quotes and pricing

* Identify risks, value engineering opportunities, and programme impacts

* Work collaboratively with project managers and commercial leads

* Support tender submissions, presentations, and handovers

* Maintain accurate records, cost databases, and estimating systems

About You

* Experience as a Civils Estimator (groundworks, infrastructure, drainage or similar)

* Strong understanding of civil engineering methods and materials

* Excellent analytical and numerical skills

* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

* Competent using estimating software and MS Office

* Strong communication and negotiation abilities

* Looking for long-term progression within a reputable contractor
