LV​/HV Design Engineers - Rail & Energy Infrastructure

Overview

This design team continues to deliver a strong pipeline of rail electrification work into mid-2026, while steadily expanding into the wider energy infrastructure sector. The focus is on the design and specification of LV and HV power systems supporting major UK decarbonisation and electrification programmes.

You’ll join an established in‑house team that covers the full design lifecycle from concept layouts and protection studies through to site support and commissioning. Typical work includes distribution and traction power systems, substation layouts, cable routing, earthing, and integration with civils and OLE design.

• Background in LV or HV power distribution design (11 kV to 132 kV typical)
• Familiarity with Network Rail, DNO, or similar power standards
• Ability to produce or check designs in compliance with safety and assurance requirements (Form A/B/C, or equivalent)
• Coordination with civils, OLE, and E&P disciplines
• Use of design tools such as Amtech, ETAP, or similar

• Stable workload through confirmed CP7 frameworks
• Expansion into the energy infrastructure market, offering upskilling and future proofing
• Real design ownership within a collaborative in‑house team
• Roles based across Derby, Warrington, and Coatbridge, with flexible hybrid options
