The teamOur ITV News teams deliver high quality, trustworthy and impartial journalism to millions of people on television and online. It’s a fast moving environment with a huge variety of roles on offer and plenty of challenges. We operate from 11 main news production centres across England, Northern Ireland, Wales and the Channel Islands. We also have a Political Unit based in the heart of Westminster and produce a range of current affairs & factual programming at ITV Wales, UTV and ITV Border.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a journalist who wants to really make their mark in Northern Ireland appearing on a market leading programme, UTV Live. This is a great job for someone with a proven track record of delivering the most striking, high-quality, distinctive journalism on television and across all our platforms.
You will need to show you can break new ground with the best story ideas and treatments as well as having the editorial ability to handle, often complex, ‘on the day’ stories.
We're looking for a reporter who will help ensure our coverage is as representative as possible of the people and backgrounds of all those who live here.
The successful candidate will be a skilled storyteller who’ll also have a strong knowledge of broadcast regulation and the law. Trust is so important for our audience so you will need to show you can produce reports which are informative, accurate, fair and balanced.
You will be enthusiastic about developing an online presence, ideally having proven experience of using digital media to extend the reach of your journalism.
As an established self-starter, you will immerse yourself in the community and use your extensive contacts to deliver on the main topics of the day as well as producing original journalism. We want someone who can bring to the fore big talking points, exclusive lines and who can tell a
* story* visually both in recorded items and live on air. You’ll need to know who
* market* in the most
* engaging* the best contributor and how to conduct searching interviews to construct the clearest argument. This is a job for a team player who is proactive at all times, fully committed to their colleagues and the output.
Alongside your first class communication and teamwork skills, experience of self-shooting, laptop editing and live reporting is desirable. We will expect you to develop your camera and editing skills to complement our news gathering and storytelling.
Please note - On-Screen Journalists are required to provide their own means of transport to and from location. The vehicle must be appropriately insured, taxed and maintained. You may claim associated mileage expenses in line with HMRC regulations.

Key Responsibilities:- To consistently generate original and creative ideas, contributing to the news agenda of the day, on-screen and online
- To research and develop story ideas thoroughly and creatively for on-air and online output
- To make, maintain and nurture a wide range of relevant contacts
- To be pro-active about diversity, equity & inclusion ensuring the output reflects news stories and issues across the audience spectrum
- To source interesting contributors, from all parts of the community, who will bring the story to life
- To tell the story through engaging and authoritative presentation either through a live broadcast, as part of a news package, or through a range of digital platforms. On screen, to use picture, natural sound and soundbites to give the story maximum impact.

- To edit packages in a confident, creative and efficient manner, making full use of all production tools to make the most interesting item possible
