Position: Commercial Contract Officer
Location: Dewsbury with international travel/secondment
Hours: Full-time, permanent role with flexibility to work with international time differences
Job OverviewThe Commercial Officer is responsible for identifying, onboarding, and managing suppliers to ensure consistent quality, cost-effectiveness, and risk mitigation. This role involves close collaboration with the commercial, quality, and operations teams to ensure suppliers meet company standards and support business objectives.
A short-term assignment (up to 3 months) with our U.S commercial team is included, offering international exposure and potential for future global opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and source new suppliers to create competitive alternatives to current suppliers.
- Oversee projects to replicate products in order to enable supplier changes where necessary.
- Manage communication and onboarding processes for new suppliers.
- Oversee qualification processes for new suppliers and their products in line with company processes.
- Clearly communicate all supplier changes to the commercial team and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure alignment on quality and delivery expectations.
- Visiting supplier sites to conduct audits checks.
- Track and evaluate quality performance of currently qualified suppliers.
- File and manage complaints from customers against suppliers, ensuring timely resolution.
- Participate in investigations into supplier quality failures and oversee corrective actions.
- Track and assess risk factors for new suppliers and implement preventive measures to avoid quality issues.
- Work with the commercial team on supplier performance, risks, and recommended actions.
- Maintain accurate supplier records, performance data, and compliance documentation.
Skills and Qualifications
- Qualification in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience in supplier sourcing and quality management.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and risk awareness.
- Knowledge of quality control processes and regulatory compliance requirements.
