About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Child & Adolescent Outpatient - Mental Health & Addictions, the Clinical Therapist, as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, is responsible for the delivery of time-limited, evidence-based psycho-social assessments and treatments to child and adolescent (19 years and younger) with Tier-3 mental disorders and Substance Use Disorders. All services are provided within a Stepped Care framework and practice is guided by disorder-based clinical care pathways.

Each clinician participates in a consultation group to ensure collegial support, accountability, and effectiveness of assessments and treatments.

It is an expectation that the Clinical Therapist will act in a professional and ethical manner, following all recognized codes of ethics, standards, legislation, and guidelines relevant to clinical practice and profession. They will convey respect and a solid understanding of subtle and complex diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to specific groups.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

    • Master’s Degree in a clinical health-related discipline (Masters in Social Work, Psychology, Masters in Counseling, Masters in Nursing, or Masters in Occupational Therapy)
    • Current registration with relevant provincial regulatory body or eligible
    • Minimum two (2) years' related experience required including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and discharge planning
    • In-depth and critical understanding of the principles of harm reduction, the dynamics of addiction, and evidence-based interventions for the treatment of addiction
    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used (DSM-5) for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders
    • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in individual/ group cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psycho-educational groups
    • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide, and violence risk assessment/ intervention
    • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team
