Overview
We have a current opportunity for a HSE Superintendent on a temporary basis. The position will be based in Qatar.
Position Details- Title: HSE Superintendent
- Location: Doha/Oman/Offshore
- Doha Logistics allowance: SINGLE status
- Contract duration: 12 Months
- Manage all construction activities related to the Ruya Batch 1 contract and demonstrate exemplary behaviour regarding HSE rules & requirements.
- As the responsible HSE team lead, fully understand, develop and promote HSE policy (Incident Free program, Life Saving rules, etc.), culture and objectives for the project.
- Supervise daily construction activities on the worksite and ensure compliance with company values and policies, relevant laws and regulations, agreed company priorities and objectives, company standards and procedures and good industry practices.
- Special focus on scaffolding, high‑height lifting, rigging and confined‑space entry activities.
- Manage HSE supervisors on the worksite, be visibly present in the field, and "walk the talk" with HSE as a priority.
- Adhere to and effectively communicate project HSE policies, intervene where HSE deficiencies are identified and report.
- Promote HSE on sites, attend project HSE meetings, training and inspections when invited, and consult construction and HSE teams in the execution and planning of key critical activities.
- Work closely with the Head Project HSE to promote the realization of the project HSE objectives.
- Perform regular health & safety inspections in compliance with CPY HSE policy and expectations.
- Ensure that all site personnel wear appropriate PPE.
Ensure contractors and subcontractors comply with scaffolding requirements. Check, inspect and monitor that areas are barricaded during erection and dismantling, that scaffolding is erected, modified and dismantled only by qualified personnel, that scaffolders are using appropriate fall protection, that scaffolding material is suitable and compliant with standards. Ensure the scaffolding tagging system is well implemented and inspections are carried out periodically by qualified personnel.
Obtain and review procedures, certificates and drawings related to scaffolding.
Monitor site lifting activities, expedite and monitor applicable lifting plans, attend all critical lifting procedures, perform lifting gear and equipment inspections, ensure they meet inspection and colour‑coding requirements, move and ban defected gears and equipment from the construction area, ensure lifting materials and equipment are used within weight limits, coordinate lifting communications and the identification of the person in charge, ensure no load lifting activities over personnel and enforce warnings, precautions and barriers, and ensure correct slinging & rigging of materials prior to lifting.
MinimumExperience
- 15 years of professional experience; strong experience in Asian Construction Yard.
- Perform HSE audits in accordance with contract requirements.
- Ensure that all works are performed without any risk for surrounding areas.
- Encourage and promote HSE practices improvement during construction phase.
- Establish good communication between company and contractor, prepare and perform presentations & inductions.
- Manage HSE aspects of activities on contractor construction yard and review HSE documentation timely.
- High‑class HSE administration skills: training, incident investigation, cause‑tree analysis lead and reporting.
- Promote project HSE policies, safety observations, close‑outs, housekeeping activities.
- Follow‑up on mandatory HSE trainings for company and contractor’s staff.
- Participate in development of bridging documentation for offshore campaign.
- Promote HSE communications and workshops as part of safety culture program implementation.
- Bachelor’s degree in health and safety or N/EBE? Nebosh IGC or equivalent.
- H2S and TBOSIET (if required).
- Familiar with IOGP / API / basic Oil & Gas relevant codes and standards.
