Job Description Position SummaryThe Certified Lifting Supervisor is responsible for planning, supervising, and controlling all lifting operations on site to ensure safe execution in compliance with regulatory standards, company procedures, and manufacturer guidelines. The role ensures that all lifting activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and by certified personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and control all lifting operations, including cranes, hoists, forklifts, and rigging activities.
- Ensure compliance with lifting plans, risk assessments, method statements, and safety procedures.
- Verify that all lifting equipment, cranes, slings, shackles, and rigging gear are certified, inspected, and fit for use.
- Brief riggers, crane operators, and other lifting team members before each lift.
- Ensure proper communication and signaling during lifting operations.
- Identify hazards and ensure safe working conditions, stopping work if unsafe.
- Review and approve lifting plans (for standard lifts); coordinate with Engineers for critical lifts.
- Maintain daily records of lifting activities and ensure documentation is updated.
- Ensure proper load calculations, stability checks, and weight verification before lifting.
- Coordinate with site management, HSE team, and contractors to ensure safe logistics and planning.
- Report incidents, near-misses, or unsafe conditions immediately to the HSE team.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and periodic audits.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Crane operations and rigging
- Lifting accessories and load charts
- Safe lifting procedures and regulations
- Risk assessment and hazard identification
- Ability to read and understand lifting plans and technical drawings.
- Excellent communication and supervisory skills.
- High attention to safety, detail, and control under pressure.
- Certified Lifting Supervisor from an approved authority (OPITO, TUV, LEEA, LOLER-equivalent, etc.).
- Rigger certification (Level 2 or
3) is an advantage. - 5 to 7+ years of experience in lifting, rigging, or crane supervision (as required by employer).
- Experience in:
- Construction & infrastructure
- Oil & Gas
- Marine/offshore
- Heavy lifting operations
- Familiarity with local regulations (e.g., OSHA, LOLER, ISO standards).
Job Types: Temporary, Contract
Contract length: 6 months
- Lifting Supervisor: 5 years (Required)
