Job DescriptionJob Overview
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This role involves ensuring that construction projects are completed within budget and on time, providing financial oversight, managing costs, and minimizing financial risks. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will work closely with project teams, clients, contractors, and suppliers to optimize project outcomes and ensure compliance with financial and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Cost Management and Budgeting:
Lead the preparation and management of cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for construction projects. - Contract Management:
Oversee contract preparation, negotiation, and administration, ensuring adherence to all terms and conditions. - Risk Management:
Identify and assess potential financial and contractual risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impacts. - Valuations and Variations:
Conduct regular valuations for completed work and monitor any project variations or adjustments to contracts. - Procurement:
Manage the procurement process, including sourcing and selecting suppliers, negotiating terms, and finalizing agreements. - Cost Reporting:
Provide accurate and timely reports on project costs, expenditures, and progress to senior management and stakeholders.
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field. RICS or equivalent professional accreditation preferred. - Experience:
Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in quantity surveying, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role within construction or civil engineering. - Technical
Skills:
Strong knowledge of construction contracts, advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modeling skills, excellent analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail, strong negotiation and communication abilities, proven track record of managing multiple projects and deadlines, solid understanding of construction processes, regulations, and standards. - Behavioral
