Job Description

A Senior/Principal Telecoms Engineer is required to support future growth in our expanding business, based in Qatar. The role focuses on FEED, Pre‑FEED, Brownfield, and Greenfield scopes, executing project work in line with Wood and client health, safety, environmental and quality procedures, whilst meeting man‑hour, cost and schedule targets.

• Ensure safety, environmental and quality procedures are followed and achieve a high standard of safety in all associated work.
• Execute engineering design, FEED and detailed engineering and perform costing estimation for telecom proposals.
• Provide discipline input to scope definition and execution.
• Prepare engineering documentation: block diagrams, functional design specifications, datasheets, equipment layouts, interconnection drawings, termination drawings and cabinet drawings.
• Develop specifications and prepare material requisitions for telecom systems.
• Participate in technical bid evaluations, vendor document reviews and approvals.
• Manage third‑party suppliers for engineering delivery.
• Prepare and develop material take‑off.
• Contribute to project reviews, design reviews, audits and workshops as required.
• Conduct site surveys and data gathering for onshore/offshore brownfield scopes and produce site survey reports.
• Assess progress and report to the progress measurement system; suggest plans to recover slippage and correct inefficiency.
• Support and supervise delegated tasks.
• Adhere to and improve discipline‑specific procedures.
• Maintain awareness of regulatory frameworks, legislation changes and industry technology developments.
• Participate in audits and incident investigations.
• Coaching and mentoring; supervise less experienced engineers.
• Contribute to performance management of direct reports.
• Remain technically competent and pursue continuous professional development.
• Take a proactive approach to personal and professional development.

• Minimum 15 years in IT/telecom, including security & safety, wired & wireless communication in oil & gas projects, and extensive knowledge of LAN & WAN, ACS, UHF/VHF radio, CCTV, FOC, IDS, PAGA, hotline systems, fire alarm and IP telephone.
• MSc, MEng or equivalent professional qualification, or BSc, BEng or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Chartered Engineer or recognised equivalent experience preferred.
• Demonstrable balance of industrial experience at the relevant level and position.
• Willing and able to progress registration on the Qatar Engineering Register.
• Experience across greenfield and brownfield, both onshore and offshore, from Pre‑FEED through EPC, with a focus on offshore upstream.
• Experience with Qatar O&G customer design standards, including Shell DEPs.
• Management of vendors: technical bid evaluations and vendor scope oversight.
• A proactive, self‑motivated individual with excellent verbal and written communication, and organisational awareness.
