AboutThe Role
Responsible in ensuring that aircraft Engines and APUs are fully in compliance with all required airworthiness regulations under CAMO and ETOPS requirements (where applicable) within optimal levels of reliability. and are maintained with a cost-effective strategy to support Qatar Airways fleet operational and financial requirements. Assist in reliability enhancements and initiate cost savings through scrutinizing shop visit reports and invoices. review and ensure that Qatar Airways engines and APUs are managed accordingly in line with the provisions of applicable contracts.
Organize and manage the engineering activities to achieve the company’s objective.
- Evaluate Airworthiness and other Service Documentation (AD/CN/SB/SIL/OIT/AOT/VSB/TFU/FTD) issued by airworthiness authorities, aircraft manufacturers or vendors and take necessary actions in a timely manner (e.g., issue EO, ESWC, CMA, TN, recommend amendments to technical publications, Aircraft Maintenance Program).
- Evaluate technical and commercial proposals, retrofit Modification Orders and Corporate Engineering Change requests and make recommendations.
- Ensure the fleet is maintained at optimum level of component and systems reliability at an acceptable cost in order to support Qatar Airways operational requirements.
- Prepare an effective removal plan that meets the life limited parts and performance requirements thereby minimizing unscheduled engine removals.
- Ensure suppliers provide effective work scopes in accordance with QTR agreements to obtain optimum time on wing.
- Mon Review and approval of Engine & APU invoices, make sure they are in accordance to the terms agreed in the contracts.itor the engines and APUs health monitoring and ensure technical actions are taken proactively to avoid any foreseen defects.
- Perform technical analysis of Engine and APU contracts from the technical side taking into consideration the economics of such decisions and manage executed contracts in order to protect Qatar Airways interests and bring forth commercial and financial savings.
- Initiate campaign inspection, modifications and engine/APU/component shop visits as applicable and co- ordinate with all concerned to ensure their timely accomplishment.
- Investigate TORs/MORs/ASRs recommend/implement corrective and preventative measures as required.
- Review industry experience related to aircraft and components in service and utilize such knowledge to enhance service levels and reliability. Attend conferences, workshops and meetings as needed.
- Recommend amendments in aircraft maintenance program and MEL under airworthiness authority guidelines on Qatar airways specific maintenance requirements.
- Prepare product specification and assist commercial department in preparing Request for Information, Request for Proposal and purchase agreement documents for selection of a new components and systems or upgrade of such systems.
- Review engineering data and drawings for accuracy before embodiment.
- Prepare short term removal plan and long‑term removal forecast for planning and meeting Qatar Airways financial strategy.
- Review and approval of Engine & APU invoices, make sure they are in accordance to the terms agreed in the contracts.
- Prepare Engine and APUs workscoping for operational engines, considering lease return, fleet exit and commercial effectiveness.
- Lease return condition review and make sure Engines and APUs will meet these conditions upon lease return.
- Perform other duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.
- Maintain good relationship with OEMS, contracted MROs, and service providers.
- Perform other department duties related to his / her position as directed by the Head of the Department.
- Must hold a degree (B. Eng., BSc in Mechanical, Mechatronics of Aeronautical Engineering).
- 4 years job related experience of airworthiness/ /reliability/technical support engineer role in a continuing airworthiness maintenance organization of a reputed airline.
- B1 or B2 ICAO Type II License (Preferred).
- Internal:
Completed minimum 2 years in EN.01 with related experience. - Good Knowledge of aircraft systems/power plant/structures preferably training on one or several types of aircraft operated by the Company.
- Experience in usage of Airman, Airbus world, My Boeing Fleet, Airplane Health Management and Maintenance Performance Toolbox and/or equivalent systems for various power plant and equipment manufacturers will be an advantage.
- Experience in using Airbus Technical Request and Boeing Service Request applications.
- Experience in managing contracts, and commercial commitment letters.
