Senior Field Engineer applies engineering practices and knowledge to improve the field engineering discipline within McDermott. Acting as a lead engineer offshore and sharing conceptual and practical expertise related to the field engineering discipline, the Engineer provides solutions and prepares mitigation plans to resolve complex problems, applying discipline‑specific knowledge to enhance processes and services.
Senior Field Engineer plays a pivotal role with customers, clients, and project or service activities alongside the assigned team, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards applicable to the client side and adhering to McDermott guidelines and policies.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities- Review all technical project documents upon contract award and identify any differences or discrepancies between pre‑contract and post‑contract documents, as well as deficiencies in tender method statements.
- Attend bid interviews with local management and participate in global management reviews.
- Ensure all bid inputs have been reviewed and approved by the Division Manager and General Superintendent before submittal; the Diving Manager reviews and approves all diving estimates.
- Prepare technical clarifications/qualifications about the scope of work, drawings, and specifications and submit them to the Proposal Coordinator.
- Develop a plan and allocate resources for the project to ensure that engineering deliverables are completed according to the agreed‑upon schedule.
- Monitor the progress of the project section to prevent major issues or delays from occurring during the project.
- Take the lead in creating installation documentation, procurement, and fabrication materials (e.g., scopes of work, procedures, drawings, sketches).
- Ensure the accuracy of procurement, fabrication, and installation documentation, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
- Coordinate with other departments within the project team to ensure smooth operations.
- Offer support on engineering‑related matters to the Project/Procurement Subcontracting Department, ensuring competent suppliers or service providers are chosen for the job.
- Determine the sequence of work to be performed.
- Determine the equipment to perform the work based on availability, tender requirements, and management bid philosophy.
- Determine the crew make‑up required for each phase of the project; update and circulate crew make‑ups as required.
- Determine the duration of work, using historical records for similar jobs where applicable.
- Prepare a bar chart schedule for the marine work, including vessel modifications and other preparatory work.
- Prepare miscellaneous costs for offshore work, including barge rig‑ups/designs, port clearances, and project consumables; identify all other costs for compliance with tender documents.
- Coordinate with Construction Support Engineering to prepare the technical drawings for bid submittals.
- Prepare written procedures on safe work methods that meet project requirements for inclusion in the technical bid submission.
- Review the proposal document and identify the work to be subcontracted, if any.
- Prepare technical description and bid pricing structure for the subcontracted work based on schedule and company specification, coordinating with the Subcontracts Administrator and Proposal Coordinator.
- Coordinate responsibilities for survey, dredging/trenching, pipe haul barges, near‑shore crossing, and pipeline pre‑commissioning.
- Review engineering‑related information to ensure comprehensive and accurate data is included in bidding proposals.
- Provide responses to technical clarifications from the tendering subcontractors, if any.
- Prepare Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE) to finalize the installation vessels required for job execution.
- Evaluate subcontract qualifications and make recommendations to the Proposals Coordinator for lump‑sum and miscellaneous costs.
