ACES is a leading specialized engineering company in the Middle East. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will support the Department/Section Manager in planning, controlling, and organizing departmental activities. Responsibilities include reviewing site investigation reports, supervising personnel, acquiring projects, providing technical support, directing work surveys, supervising projects, preparing technical and financial offers, and leading a team.
Managerial Duties- Implement department policies, goals, objectives, and procedures and support in their development as needed.
- Oversee implementation of operations plans, policies, procedures, and transition/migration plans.
- Support Department Manager in management of resources, cost control, and budgeting.
- Oversee and implement department policies, goals, objectives, and procedures and support in their development as needed.
- Ensure implementation of operations plans, policies, procedures and transition/migration plans.
- Monitor project progress per schedule and prepare contingency plans.
- Oversee field and lab testing schedule per project requirements in conjunction with clients/consultants.
- Develop departmental business plans aligned with ACES strategies and objectives.
- Oversee all worksheets of field and lab testing.
- Obtain approval for invoices prepared according to project invoicing milestones.
- Follow up department invoices and aid in collection.
- Analyze field and lab data for preparing geotechnical reports as per client requirements.
- Prepare daily drilling work program and issue work orders to drillers in accordance with specifications and agreements.
- Ensure customers’ requirements are carried out in accordance with contract specification, international and in-house policies.
- Conduct off-site inspection visits and prepare site inspection reports.
- Collect data utilizing various field instrumentation such as inclinometers, piezometers, and settlement monitoring devices.
- Conduct visual description of obtained soil and rock samples.
- Prepare laboratory testing program for geotechnical investigation.
- Prepare geotechnical reports in conformance with related standard test methods and customer requirements.
- Organize records and files for plans and ongoing projects, including incoming & outgoing correspondence, project specifications and drawings, lab test forms, and all related ISO forms.
- Prepare and write both technical and financial proposals.
- Perform laboratory analysis and field-testing results and findings using computer programs.
- Oversee implementation of safety regulations and protection measures in the field.
- Oversee implementation of field and laboratory plans and programs.
- Oversee site investigation projects by carrying out site visits, attending meetings, and reviewing documentation.
- Design, oversee and analyze various shallow and deep foundation systems for structures, including conducting calculations.
- Design and analyze various permanent and temporary earth retaining systems such as concrete gravity, soldier beam, and lagging and sheet pile walls, along with associated slope stability analysis using several computerized solution techniques.
- Oversee the plan and program site investigation work considering related obstacles such as accessibility and existing structure.
- Oversee project quality plan (PQP) for large scale projects and follow up on project expenses.
- Market the department in coordination with the marketing officer and the department manager.
- Take decisions for type of foundation, necessity for soil improvement, and technical justifications for recommendations provided in the interpretative report.
- Perform any duties or responsibilities assigned by management.
This position will directly report to the Geotechnical Department Manager.
Job RequirementsEducation & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
- 6–10 years of experience in Civil Engineering.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- On‑Site Testing & Investigations: SPT, Coring, CPT, Soil Permeability, Packer Test, HPD Test, and other related tests.
