Job Title:
Chief Mechanic – Offshore Jackup Rig
Location:
Qatar Offshore (Qatar Petroleum, North Field, or Contracted Rigs)

Rotational (e.g., 28 days on/28 days off) Reporting To:
Rig Manager / OIM (Offshore Installation Manager) Key Responsibilities
1. Mechanical Systems Oversight
Lead maintenance/repairs of jackup rig mechanical systems, including:
- Hydraulic systems (cranes, BOP controls)
- Ensure adherence to Qatar Energy (QP) standards, IMO regulations, and SHEQ policies.
- Conduct risk assessments for critical maintenance (e.g., jacking system overhauls).
- Enforce PTW (Permit to Work) and LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) procedures.
- Supervise mechanical crew (assistant mechanics, electricians, and subcontractors).
- Coordinate with Qatar-based offshore support for major spares/logistics.
- Act as first responder for mechanical failures (e.g., loss of jacking control, engine room fires).
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment breakdowns.
- Maintain logs for Class surveys (ABS, DNV) and Qatar Ministry of Energy audits.
- Report downtime incidents to Qatar Petroleum (QP) or Nakilat if vessel is chartered.
- Education:
Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. - Experience:
10+ years offshore (5+ as Chief Mechanic on jackups). - Certifications:
- OPITO/BOSIET (Offshore Survival)
- QP (Qatar Petroleum) Safety Passport
- Qatar Ministry of Public Health Medical Fitness
- SAP or CMMS (Maintenance Software Proficiency)
- HVAC/R (for living quarters systems)
$380 / day
Additional Benefits- Housing allowance (if based in Qatar on rotation breaks).
