The Cathodic Protection (CP) Technician is responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining cathodic protection systems for subsea pipelines, offshore structures, and marine facilities in Qatar. The role ensures corrosion prevention through impressed current (ICCP) and sacrificial anode (SACP) systems
, complying with NACE, DNV, and ISO standards
.
- Install, inspect, and troubleshoot ICCP/SACP systems on pipelines, jetties, and offshore platforms.
- Conduct subsea anode surveys, retrofit installations, and cable repairs.
- Monitor transformer-rectifiers (T/R units), reference electrodes, and anode sleds
.
- Perform close interval potential surveys (CIPS), depolarization tests, and current requirement tests
. - Use CP monitoring tools (multimeters, data loggers, underwater reference cells).
- Collect and analyze corrosion rate data for reporting.
- Work with divers, ROV teams, and surveyors for subsea CP inspections.
- Assist in CP design reviews and material selection (anodes, coatings).
- Ensure adherence to NACE SP0169, DNV-RP-B401, and project specifications
. - Prepare CP survey reports, as-built documentation, and maintenance logs
.
- Certifications:
- IMCA/ADCI diving certification (if performing underwater CP work).
- Offshore safety training (BOSIET, HUET, CA-EBS).
- 3+ years in marine/offshore CP systems (oil & gas, ports, pipelines).
- Familiarity with subsea CP surveys, anode replacement, and ROV-assisted inspections
. - Middle East/GCC experience (preferred).
