Position: NR : Technical Superintendent

Technical Superintendent

Lead the overall technical management of LNG/LPG vessels under direct management of NSQL, ensuring reliable, safe and cost‑efficient operations. Support projects and studies to improve fleet efficiency of vessels and maintain compliance with regulations, class requirements and industry standards.

Key Accountabilities
  • Maintain high technical and operational standards for the vessels to meet reliability benchmarks.
  • Strive to achieve industry‑wide best standards for vessels, dry docking, repairs and performance through statistical analysis and maintenance data tracking.
  • Contribute to fleet projects and studies to improve quality and standards.
  • Develop ship‑management policies and procedures and ensure sign‑off through the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Monitor planned maintenance systems, keeping them up‑to‑date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the technical and feasibility analysis for new or replacement vessel equipment and systems.
  • Render expert technical and marine engineering advice to ensure reliable, safe and cost‑efficient operations.
  • Resolve technical issues and propose solutions, tracking their implementation.
  • Prepare vessel budgets, track variances and control costs to maximize performance.
  • Participate in tender evaluation and preparation for equipment, spare parts and support services.
  • Provide justification and clearance for contractors’ invoices versus supplied materials or services.
  • Ensure vessels comply with all regulatory and class requirements, maintain valid certificates and surveys.
  • Monitor environmental compliance of vessels and operations.
  • Conduct periodic safety and technical audits, vetting, incident investigations and contingency planning.
  • Support the Company Incident Commander under the Emergency Response Plan and provide emergency response when required.
  • Manage ship staff performance, conduct appraisals and coordinate with the Marine Personnel Department.
  • Prepare, arrange and review dry‑docking specifications, monitor dock operations and include post‑dock price negotiations.
  • Maintain interaction on fleet projects and long‑term technical issues with third‑party managers.
  • Guide the supply and contracts division in strategic contract negotiations with key vendors and third‑party managers.
  • Adhere to QHSE policies to provide a safe, world‑class, secure and environmentally responsible service.
  • Implement approved policies, processes and procedures and provide guidance for proper implementation.
  • Act as company proxy at industry forums as required.
  • Monitor and analyze guarantee claims and recommend responses.
  • Assist with insurance claim documentation and periodic management reports.
  • Carry out any other duties as directed by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications, Experience and

Job Skills Qualifications
  • Marine Engineering degree (Class 1), preferably in motors and steam, or any equivalent/relevant degree.
  • Sailed as chief engineer on board LNG/VLG carriers.
Experience
  • Minimum 8–12 years overall experience, with at least 2 years in a similar capacity supervising LNG/LPG vessels, OR
  • Minimum 2 years managing large‑scale repairs/maintenance activities on LPG/LNG vessels, OR
  • Minimum 2 years as chief engineer on board LNG/LPG vessels.
Job Specific Skills
  • Project management, budgeting, engineering troubleshooting, management and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments.
  • Capability to conduct accident investigations, root‑cause analysis and provide comprehensive reports.
  • Knowledge of technical operations for large gas carriers owned and managed.
  • Knowledge of cargo containment systems, cargo handling equipment and systems on board large gas carriers.
  • Knowledge of propulsion plant on board large gas carriers.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of international and local marine rules and regulations.
