Mechanical Supervisor – Offshore Shutdown Responsibilities
- Shutdown Execution
- Supervise mechanical teams (technicians, contractors) in tasks such as valve replacements, pump overhauls, piping repairs, and turbine maintenance.
- Ensure work aligns with the shutdown schedule and critical path.
- HSE & Compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to HSE policies (PTW, LOTO, confined space entry, etc.).
- Conduct toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safety inspections.
- Quality Control
- Verify that mechanical work meets engineering standards (ASME, API, ANSI).
- Oversee non‑destructive testing (NDT) and hydrostatic tests.
- Coordination
- Liaise with engineers, planners, and other disciplines (e.g., electrical, instrumentation).
- Report daily progress to the Shutdown Manager.
- Education:
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering. - Certifications:
OSHA/NEBOSH, COSS (Competent Offshore Safety Supervisor), or equivalent. - Experience:
8+ years in oil/gas, with 3+ years in offshore shutdowns/turnarounds. - Expertise in rotating equipment (pumps, compressors), static equipment (vessels, heat exchangers), and piping systems.
- Familiarity with SAP/CMMS for work orders.
- Soft Skills:
Leadership, problem-solving, fluency in English (Arabic a plus).
