Purpose of Role The Nurse is responsible to oversee the function of the School First Aid Unit by promoting health and safety, including actual and potential health problem intervention; case management services; records and database maintenance.

To act as first responder in medical emergencies.

To have an in‑depth knowledge of nursing best practices with a high degree of professionalism to support the whole School.

The Nurse will provide quality health care support to the school and will be part of the pastoral care team for students.

The role requires a happy, welcoming, and caring disposition, excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks. The Nurse will be a supportive, co‑operative team member who shows initiative and a willingness to improve processes.

Key Duties and Areas of Responsibility

  • Performs and/or oversees mandated screenings and completes referrals and follow‑up where applicable.
  • Supporting and assisting in the daily operation of the nursing office, and the general maintenance of the health and welfare of staff and students.
  • Assessing and treating students' medical complaints and record keeping.
  • Initiation, implementation, and maintenance of procedures/protocols following Professional Guidelines.
  • Providing annual audiometric and vision and BMI screening service to students aligning with MOPH regulations.
  • Keeping an up‑to‑date diabetic register and reminding parents to send snacks and diabetic kits with their children.
  • Putting up appropriate health information displays on bulletin boards around the School and running information sessions for staff and students.
  • Orientation for staff, students, and parents.
  • Regular check‑ups for lice, height weight, follow‑up with Ministry regulations in that regard.
  • Taking immediate measures when severe health conditions occur.
  • Overseeing immunisation/survey programmes run by the health departments and ensuring compliance with all statutory, and legal requirements under the directive of the Qatar Supreme Council of Health and other legislative bodies.
  • Liaising with field‑trip leaders/team co‑coordinators. Checking nature of trip, time and location and preparing first aid kits as per nature of the trip (e.g. include vinegar if going to the beach).
  • Updating list of students' medical conditions/allergies and personal students' medication (Epi Pen's, insulin etc.) to go with the team leaders.
  • Reminding the parents of students who require daily medication to send the medication in a zip‑lock bag with name of the student, name of medication, dosage, and time to be given.
  • Preparing a supply of Panadol, Ibuprofen, Benadryl, spare Ventolin Inhaler and reminding team leaders to call parents if any medication is to be dispensed.
  • Supporting children with medical needs like asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, etc.
