DescriptionJob Purpose The Blackboard Techno-Functional Consultant will provide comprehensive functional and technical support for Blackboard Learn and its associated modules. This includes faculty and student support, system configuration, customization, integration, troubleshooting, training, and documentation. The role requires strong techno-functional expertise, excellent communication skills, and bilingual proficiency in Arabic and English.
Key ResponsibilitiesFunctional Support & User Assistance
Support faculty in developing courseware that enhances student engagement and meets learning objectives.
Provide end-user support for Blackboard Learn, including modules such as Learn, Integrate, Content Collection, Outcomes, and Collaboration.
Respond to faculty and student queries related to access issues, login problems, user accounts, and password retrieval.
Conduct consultations with faculty to guide customizations and course design.
Collaborate with academic departments to promote user adoption and platform improvements.
Training, Documentation & Instructional Support
Develop documentation, video tutorials, and user guides for faculty, staff, and students.
Create training materials using instructional design methodologies.
Deliver training sessions in-person and remotely; facilitate workshops and small group sessions.
Assist in updating and enhancing instructional and training content as needed.
Technical Development & System Administration
Install, configure, operate, and maintain Blackboard Learn and associated products.
Perform system upgrades, patches, and enhancement deployments.
Integrate Blackboard with external systems and applications.
Investigate and implement new technologies to enhance the Blackboard environment.
Implement role-based access control (RBAC) security across Blackboard applications.
Troubleshooting, Optimization & Support
Monitor system performance, tune applications, and troubleshoot issues.
Conduct root-cause analysis for functional and technical incidents, with full documentation.
Identify system improvements and recommend enhancements for user experience.
Perform application testing after patches, upgrades, fixes, and customizations.
System Development & Custom Enhancements
Design and implement efficient technical solutions based on functional requirements.
Develop, deploy, test, and maintain technical objects, reports, interfaces, integrations, and custom extensions.
Administer application and database security, including user/group creation and access control.
Collaboration, Reporting & Governance
Work with DBAs, system administrators, developers, and functional teams to resolve production issues.
Submit vendor support tickets when external resolution is required.
Create incident and change requests (CAB approval) with detailed solution documentation.
Participate in knowledge-sharing meetings and contribute to team best practices.
Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Minimum 8+ years of relevant techno-functional experience.
Hands‑on experience with Blackboard Learn in both technical and functional capacities.
Strong understanding of LMS support, instructional technologies, and higher education workflows.
Experience with system configuration, integration, and application maintenance.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Bilingual proficiency in Arabic and English.
