DescriptionThe Networking & DNS Installer is responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment and DNS-related services. This role focuses on hands‑on setup, basic troubleshooting, and ensuring that network and DNS systems run reliably for everyday operations.
Key Responsibilities- DNS Tasks
- Add, edit, and verify DNS records (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, PTR, SRV).
- Help maintain internal and external DNS settings during installations or updates.
- Check DNS status, basic propagation, and availability.
- Assist with domain renewals and SSL certificate updates.
- Follow DNS security guidelines provided by senior staff.
- Networking Responsibilities
- Install and set up routers, switches, access points, firewalls, and cabling.
- Configure basic network settings during installations (IP addressing, VLAN assignment, DHCP, etc.).
- Perform on‑site network testing: check signal strength, bandwidth, and latency.
- Identify and troubleshoot common network issues.
- Document network layouts, IP addresses, and device locations.
- Security & Compliance
- Follow network security standards (strong passwords, secure configurations).
- Apply firmware updates as instructed.
- Report any security risks or unusual network activity.
- Ensure all work follows company IT and compliance policies.
- Operational Support
- Provide on‑site and remote L1/L2 support for network and DNS‑related issues.
- Work with senior network engineers during installation or upgrade projects.
- Participate in on‑call rotation when needed.
- Submit installation reports, issue logs, and performance notes.
- High school diploma or associate degree in IT, Networking, or related field (preferred).
- 1–3 years of experience in network installation or support.
- Basic understanding of DNS, domains, and record types.
- Experience installing or configuring devices from Cisco, Juniper, HP, Mikro Tik, Fortinet, or similar brands.
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, VLANs, routing basics, and firewalls.
- Experience with cloud DNS platforms (AWS, Azure, Google) is a plus but not required.
- Preferred certifications: CCNA, Network+, Security+ (optional).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and documentation abilities.
