IT Technical Support Officer

Responsibilities

• Installing and configuring computer hardware, operating systems and applications;
• Regularly monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks, and alerting the IT manager if any issues need to be looked into and resolved;
• Talking staff/colleagues through a series of actions either face to face or over the telephone to help set up systems or resolve issues;
• Independently troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults;
• Replacing parts as required;
• Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports;
• Following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system;
• Supporting the roll‑out of new applications;
• Setting up new users accounts and profiles, computer systems, network devices, etc. and dealing with password issues;
• Responding to call‑outs in a timely manner and following through till the task is completed;
• Prioritizing and managing many open cases at one time;
• Rapidly establishing a good working relationship with customers and other professionals, e.g., software developers;
• Testing and evaluating new technology;
• Scheduling and conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment from time to time;
• Assisting the IT Manager in finding and proposing local suppliers and vendors for IT equipment and solutions;
• Study and ensure the organization’s IT policy is being strictly adhered to.

• BSc in Computer Engineering;
• Candidate should hold Microsoft certification;
• 2 years of relevant experience in the same field;
• With prior Qatar Experience is mandatory;
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software maintenance;
• Knowledge of virus protection and security software;
• Knowledge of operating systems;
• Knowledge of system back‑up and recovery;
• In‑depth knowledge of all in‑house software systems.
