Class III Water Treatment Operator

Class III Water Treatment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining a water treatment plant (Water Pyramids) including maintenance of equipment, quality control, and day‑to‑day activities.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

• Operate and monitor water treatment systems including pumps, filters, chemical feeders, and SCADA systems.
• Inspect equipment, monitor operating conditions including pumps, meters, gauges, respective piping, and chemical levels in water.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and instrumentation.
• Maintain accurate records of plant operations, water quality data, and maintenance activities.
• Respond to alarms and emergencies, including after‑hours and weekend on‑call duties.
• Assist in training lower‑level operators and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Document system changes and maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and regulations.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver license.
• Valid Class III Water Operator certification as issued by the state regulatory agency.
• Minimum of (4) years of experience in water treatment operations.
• Minimum of (2) years as Water Operator of Records.
• Ability to pass a favorable national agency check (NAC).

• Strong understanding of water chemistry and treatment principles.
• Familiarity with SCADA systems, meters, and automated controls.
• Knowledge of state and federal drinking water regulations.
• Ability to interpret lab results and adjust operations accordingly.
• Proficiency in recordkeeping and report preparation.
• Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Work in emergency situations as required.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating with teams and documenting work.
