Job Description

Position:
Robotic Operator / Robotics Technician
Department:
Manufacturing, Production, or Automation
Industry: Automotive, Electronics, Manufacturing, Warehousing, Metal Fabrication
Experience

Required:

1+ years in robotic operations (training available for motivated candidates)
Certifications Preferred:
Fanuc Handling Tool, ABB Robot Operator, or similar OEM certification

Location:

(Factory/Production Floor)
Reporting To:
Production Supervisor or Automation Engineer

Key Responsibilities
  • Operation & Monitoring
    • Operate robotic work cells and automated production lines according to standard procedures.
    • Monitor robot performance, cycle times, and production output via HMI (Human-Machine Interface) panels.
    • Perform start-up and shut-down sequences for robotic systems.
    • Load/unload parts, fixtures, or materials as required by the automated process.
    • Conduct visual inspections of robot-produced parts for quality defects.
  • Basic Maintenance & Troubleshooting
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks: cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of end-effectors (grippers, welders, dispensers).
    • Identify and respond to basic robot faults, alarms, and error messages.
    • Execute minor troubleshooting under guidance, such as restarting programs, resetting faults, or checking sensors.
    • Assist technicians and engineers with more complex repairs and changeovers.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including safeguarding systems, light curtains, and safety gates.
    • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance interventions.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area around robotic cells.
    • Participate in safety meetings and risk assessments related to robotic operations.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Log production data, downtime events, and quantity counts accurately.
    • Complete shift reports and checklists.
    • Report recurring faults, quality issues, or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
    • Update robot program logs and changeover records as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Mandatory:
    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training is a plus.
    • 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing, production, or automation environment. Direct robotics experience is preferred but not mandatory for candidates with strong mechanical aptitude.
    • Ability to read and follow work instructions, checklists, and basic diagrams.
    • Basic computer literacy for operating HMIs and entering data.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
    • Willingness to work in shifts (day/night) and in a factory environment.
  • Preferred:
    • Formal robotic operator training or certification (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa).
    • Experience with specific robot brands used on-site (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA).
    • Experience with robotic applications like welding, painting, material handling, palletizing, or assembly.
    • Experience using measurement tools (calipers, gauges) for quality checks.
    • Understanding of basic mechanical and electrical concepts.
    • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or 5S principles.
Technical Skills
  • Mechanical Aptitude:
    Understanding of tools, fixtures, and simple mechanisms.
  • Problem-Solving:
    Ability to diagnose common operational faults from error codes.
Soft Skills
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow procedures precisely and work as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills for reporting issues.
  • Safety-conscious mindset and situational awareness.
Working Conditions
  • Environment:
    Industrial manufacturing floor with associated noise, temperature variation, and activity.
  • Physical:
    May involve standing for long periods, light lifting, and repetitive tasks.
  • Schedule:

    Full-time, often requiring shift work (e.g., 8 or 12‑hour shifts), weekends, or overtime to meet production needs.
