Job Summary
The Mill Floor Senior Operator supervises rolling mill operations on the production floor, ensuring efficient workflow, equipment performance, and high-quality steel output. The role involves coordinating with operators, assisting with troubleshooting, and managing production activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mill floor operations and supervise operators and assistants.
- Monitor rolling processes, ensuring correct bar movement, speed, and alignment.
- Troubleshoot operational issues such as jamming, misalignment, and machine faults.
- Ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety compliance are met.
- Communicate constantly with pulpit control operators and cooling bed teams.
- Maintain daily production reports, logs, and shift records.
- Support maintenance teams during shutdowns or breakdowns.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and safe working conditions on the mill floor.
Requirements
- ITI/Diploma or technical qualification related to steel mill operations.
- Minimum 4–6 years of experience in rolling mill production, with supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of rolling sequences, equipment behavior, and steel quality requirements.
- Ability to make quick operational decisions to prevent downtime.li>
- Good leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
- Physically fit and capable of working in high-temperature industrial environments.
