Job Summary
The Cooling Bed Senior Operator is responsible for overseeing the operation of the cooling bed section, ensuring proper alignment, cooling, and transfer of steel bars. This role requires technical experience, leadership skills, and the ability to maintain smooth production flow under high-heat industrial conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the cooling bed operation, ensuring bars cool uniformly and move correctly across the system.
- Adjust machine settings and monitor cooling bed equipment performance.
- Identify and resolve operational issues such as jamming, misalignment, or uneven bar flow.
- Supervise assistants and coordinate with mill operators for continuous production.
- Ensure production targets and quality standards are achieved.
- Maintain log sheets, temperature records, and shift reports.
- Assist with basic maintenance, lubrication, and equipment checks.
- Enforce strict safety procedures due to high-temperature exposure.
- ITI/Diploma or equivalent technical background preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in cooling bed operations within steel plants.
- Strong knowledge of rolling mill processes and cooling bed machinery.
- Ability to guide junior staff and manage workflow efficiently.
- Comfortable working in hot environments and during shift-based operations.
- Strong safety awareness and mechanical aptitude.
