A leading hospitality group in Qatar is seeking an accomplished Lead Buyer to join its dynamic retail and merchandising division. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization's merchandise strategy, overseeing product planning, sourcing, and buying for multiple retail outlets across the group's portfolio.
This position requires a results-driven professional with strong analytical and commercial acumen, capable of driving product performance, optimizing inventory levels, and identifying new market opportunities. Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement merchandise plans aligned with the organization's retail and brand strategies.
- Conduct detailed data analysis and forecasting to anticipate product demand, manage stock levels, and drive buying decisions.
- Monitor sales trends, supplier performance, and inventory turnover to ensure optimal product mix and profitability.
- Support pricing and promotional strategies by analyzing market data, competition, and historical performance.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Retail & Merchandise Planning on budgeting, forecasting, and range planning.
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes — from purchase requests and supplier negotiations to order tracking and approvals.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely deliveries, competitive pricing, and high-quality standards.
- Liaise with logistics and retail operations to ensure seamless product flow and availability across all outlets.
- Provide analytical reports and insights to enhance sales performance and stock efficiency.
- Recommend process improvements and contribute to merchandising strategy refinement.
- Stay up to date with retail and hospitality trends through market research, trade fairs, and competitor analysis.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Retail Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in merchandise buying, ideally within hospitality, retail, or lifestyle sectors.
- Strong analytical and forecasting skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software tools.
- Exceptional negotiation and supplier management abilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
