The Shop Helper performs any combination of the following shop floor duties, such as stock movement and storage of stock to ensure that sales opportunities can be maximized whilst shortages, breakages and other material handling costs are kept to an absolute minimum. The role also includes providing exceptional customer service via packing and trolley collection duties.
Operational Accountabilities- Maintain efficient shelf filling to ensure constant stock availability in the shop.
- Assist in timely preparation of items requested by the various departments for issuance.
- Assist Sales Assistant in packing the order of customer purchases and ensure to deliver first‑class customer services at all times.
- Report any damage, shortage or breakage of the product to the Shop Supervisor/Manager in a timely manner.
- Undertake good inward task ensuring that all stock receipts are palletised safely in accordance with safety guidelines, correctly labelled, bar‑coded and correctly handled.
- Accurate and efficient order picking for On Trade orders to ensure goods are ready when required.
- Assist in stock inventory by performing correct and accurate dates according to the inventory list.
- Clean the shop area if necessary to ensure safety and hygiene standards.
- Collect and arrange trolleys in the parking area, ensuring they are constantly available at all times.
- Be presentable, well‑mannered, helpful and courteous while dealing with customers.
- Perform other department duties related to your position as directed by the Head of the Department.
- High school qualification
- Minimum 2 years of job‑related experience
- Experience in material handling in a similar retail or warehouse operation with high‑density racking and palletised stock.
- Must be physically fit and capable of handling heavy loads.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English language.
