Role Summary

The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all swimmers in the facility, monitoring the pool, enforcing safety rules, and responding to emergencies in line with Elite's Health & Safety protocols.

• Continuously scan the pool during class and free times to identify potential risks.
• Enforce pool safety rules (e.g., no glass on deck, no running, capacity limits, whistle commands) per Safety Protocols (Section
  6).
• Be ready to respond immediately in case of an emergency: know the Emergency Action Plan (EAP), location of rescue equipment, first-aid kit, etc.
• Administer first aid and CPR when necessary. Maintain composure in emergencies and follow the incident reporting process.
• Maintain valid First Aid and CPR certification; proactively inform Admin of impending expiration to renew.
• Conduct regular safety checks: rescue tubes, lifebuoys, spine board, first-aid kits, deck cleanliness.
• Assist in evacuation procedures when needed; guide students, staff, and parents to designated assembly points calmly.
• Report all incidents (accidents, near‑misses) using the Incident Report Form on the same day, and elevate to Admin and Swim School Manager as needed.
• Assist coaches with safety during classes, especially when instructors might need help removing a distressed swimmer or clearing the deck in an emergency.
• Participate in health & safety trainings and drills as scheduled by management.
• Promote a culture of safety: collaborate with coaching and admin teams to continuously improve safety procedures.

• Current lifeguard certification (or nationally/regional equivalent).
• Valid First Aid / CPR certification.
• Excellent observational skills, alertness, and ability to stay focused for long periods.
• Good communication skills to follow instructions, alert others, and assist in emergencies.
  
  Physically fit: able to perform rescues, swim, and potentially carry out water‑based maneuvers.
• Professionalism: punctuality, wearing uniform, following code of conduct.
• Experience in pool or aquatic settings preferred, but not mandatory if certification and a strong safety mindset are present.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evening classes.

• Number of safety incidents or near‑misses (aim for zero)
• Response time and effectiveness in emergencies
• Certification compliance (up‑to‑date lifesaving, CPR, first aid)
• Observation performance (regular audits of scanning behavior)
• Participation in safety drills and trainings
