The Captain is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of the vessel, its crew, and all onboard activities. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in offshore operations, specifically with AHTS and PSV vessels, and demonstrate proven leadership in demanding environments. The role requires strict adherence to company policies, Qatari regulations, and international safety standards.
Key Responsibilities Operational & Safety LeadershipAssume overall command and responsibility for the safety of the vessel, crew, cargo, and the environment.
Execute all anchor handling, towing, and offshore supply operations with the highest level of proficiency and safety.
Expertly manage and conduct operations using Fast Rescue Boats (FRB) and fully enclosed Life Boats for emergency response and man‑overboard scenarios.
Ensure strict compliance with all company Safety Management System (SMS), Qatari Ministry of Transport regulations, and international codes (ISM, ISPS, MLC).
Lead by example in promoting a pervasive safety culture onboard. Conduct safety meetings, drills, and toolbox talks regularly.
Plan and execute all voyages, ensuring safe navigation within congested offshore fields and Qatari territorial waters.
Maintain a continuous navigational watch in accordance with STCW requirements.
Crew & Resource ManagementProvide strong leadership, direction, and mentorship to all crew members.
Manage crew workload, welfare, and training onboard.
Ensure the vessel is maintained, fully equipped, and provisioned for its intended operations.
Client & ReportingServe as the primary point of contact for the Client’s representative onboard and for onshore management.
Ensure all operational, safety, and administrative reports are accurately completed and submitted in a timely manner (e.g., logbooks, daily reports, incident reports).
Requirements CertificationsValid STCW Certifications as Master (
Unlimited or appropriate tonnage for the vessel).
Minimum of 5 years of experience as Captain/Master.
Proven and recent experience operating AHTS and PSV vessels.
Hands‑on experience in the deployment, operation, and recovery of Fast Rescue Boats and fully enclosed Life Boats, including rescue and recovery missions.
Extensive experience in the offshore oil and gas sector.
Technical SkillsProficiency in vessel stability, cargo operations, anchor handling patterns, and dynamic positioning (DP) operations.
Valid DP Operator certificate is a significant advantage.
MedicalValid seafarer’s medical fitness certificate from an approved facility.
Personal SkillsExceptional leadership, decision‑making, and communication skills.
Ability to perform under pressure and in emergency situations.
Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
Preferred QualificationsPrior experience working on vessels operating under Qatar Energy or other major NOC standards.
Experience operating in the Arabian Gulf, specifically Qatari waters.
Valid DP (Dynamic Positioning) Operator Certificate (
DPO Unlimited or equivalent).
