Employment Type:

Full-Time, Permanent

A long-established and reputable civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Planner to support a portfolio of live highways and roadwork projects across Yorkshire.

You will travel between sites across East, West, and South Yorkshire - typically spending a couple of days at each location, gathering progress data, understanding constraints, updating programme etc.

About the Role

You will be responsible for maintaining and developing NEC3/NEC4 compliant programmes on active highways and infrastructure projects, ensuring they align with contractual requirements and specification appendices such as 1/13, 1/16, and 1/17.

This role involves managing a cluster of 10 - 12 live sites, regularly updating Clause 31 (Cl.31) and Clause 32 (Cl.32) programmes, and preparing Clause 60 (Cl.60) programmes for individual Compensation Events (CEs).

Key Responsibilities

* Travel across Yorkshire to visit 10–12 live highways and roadwork sites, spending a few days at each to gather accurate progress data.

* Update and maintain Cl.31 and Cl.32 programmes using Microsoft Project (MSP).

* Produce NEC3/NEC4 compliant programmes, ensuring alignment with specification appendices 1/13, 1/16, 1/17 and all associated constraints.

* Develop individual Cl.60 programmes for each Compensation Event, ensuring programmes are accurate, logical, and contractually robust.

* Work closely with site teams, engineers, and project managers in live/public-realm environments.

* Identify and communicate programme risks, delays, critical paths, and mitigation options.

* Ensure all submissions are compliant with NEC requirements and suitable for audit and commercial review.

* Contribute to ongoing improvements in programme management and reporting processes.

What We’re Looking For

* Proven planning experience in highways, civil engineering, or infrastructure.

* Strong competence with Microsoft Project (MSP) - essential for this role.

* Detailed understanding of NEC3/NEC4, particularly Cl.31, Cl.32, and Cl.60.

* Experience producing NEC-compliant programmes aligned with specification appendices 1/13, 1/16, 1/17.

* Comfortable working on live, public-realm sites with traffic management, utilities, and operational constraints.

* Ability to manage multiple live sites and deliver timely programme updates across a busy portfolio.

* Analytical, structured, and confident communicating with site teams.

* Full UK driving licence essential.

Why Join?

* A technically challenging and varied planning role - no two days are the same.

* Work across key highways schemes shaping Yorkshire’s infrastructure.

* Supportive management team, excellent retention, and strong development culture.

* Competitive salary, benefits, and long-term career potential.
