Aboutthe Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Consultant to join our consulting division in Doncaster. In this hybrid role, you will manage end‑to‑end environmental projects, including fieldwork data gathering, remedial scope design, risk assessment, reporting and invoicing. You will also manage project budgets and ensure timely delivery while meeting client service level agreements.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management
- Provide end‑to‑end project management for environmental claims projects from inception to completion.
- Manage project budgeting and invoicing, ensuring deadlines and targets are met in line with client SLAs.
- Gather robust fieldwork data and maintain quality standards.
- Oversee subcontractors and remediation contractors throughout delivery.
- Monitor progress and ensure all milestones and deliverables are achieved.
Technical Delivery
- Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
- Complete factual and interpretive Preliminary Risk Assessments (desk‑based and intrusive).
- Write technically sound and commercially focused proposals, scopes and reports.
- Undertake environmental risk assessments in accordance with current legislation and best practice.
- Ensure all technical work meets required standards and client expectations.
Client and Stakeholder Relations
- Maintain technical and commercial communication with clients, regulators and site owners.
- Build strong client relationships through professional and responsive service.
- Interact effectively with clients and the public, representing the company professionally.
- Provide clear explanations of technical matters to non‑technical stakeholders.
Health, Safety and Compliance
- Observe all health, safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Ensure projects are fully compliant with current and emerging environmental legislation.
- Maintain accurate and complete project documentation and records.
- Follow company procedures and industry best practices at all times.
Team Development
- Mentor and support junior team members in professional development.
- Assist in the training of less experienced consultants.
- Share knowledge and expertise to strengthen team capability.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience as an Environmental Consultant.
- Extensive experience in Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
- Demonstrated experience completing factual and interpretative Preliminary Risk Assessments.
- Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering or natural science discipline.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
- Strong understanding of current and emerging environmental legislation.
- Excellent organisational, time‑management, analytical and numerical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and written skills, confidently interacting with clients and the public.
- Commercial awareness in project costings and risk management.
- Self‑starting with problem‑solving skills and sound judgement.
Desirable
- Experience in insurance‑related environmental work.
- Background in contaminated land assessment and remediation.
- Professional membership (e.g., CEnv, CSci) or working towards chartership.
- Experience mentoring or training junior staff members.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in environmental site assessment, excellent client relationship skills and the ability to deliver high‑quality technical work within commercial constraints.
Salary and Benefits- Competitive salary of £38,000 – £45,000 per annum (plus car allowance).
