A long-established and reputable civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Planner to support a portfolio of live highways and roadwork projects across Yorkshire.
You will travel between sites across East, West, and South Yorkshire - typically spending a couple of days at each location, gathering progress data, understanding constraints, updating programme etc.
About the RoleYou will be responsible for maintaining and developing NEC3 / NEC4 compliant programmes on active highways and infrastructure projects, ensuring they align with contractual requirements and specification appendices such as 1 / 13, 1 / 16, and 1 / 17.
This role involves managing a cluster of 10 - 12 live sites, regularly updating Clause 31 (Cl.31) and Clause 32 (Cl.32) programmes, and preparing Clause 60 (Cl.60) programmes for individual Compensation Events (CEs).
Key Responsibilities- Travel across Yorkshire to visit 10–12 live highways and roadwork sites, spending a few days at each to gather accurate progress data.
- Update and maintain Cl.31 and Cl.32 programmes using Microsoft Project (MSP).
- Produce NEC3 / NEC4 compliant programmes, ensuring alignment with specification appendices 1 / 13, 1 / 16, 1 / 17 and all associated constraints.
- Develop individual Cl.60 programmes for each Compensation Event, ensuring programmes are accurate, logical, and contractually robust.
- Work closely with site teams, engineers, and project managers in live / public‑realm environments.
- Identify and communicate programme risks, delays, critical paths, and mitigation options.
- Ensure all submissions are compliant with NEC requirements and suitable for audit and commercial review.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in programme management and reporting processes.
- Proven planning experience in highways, civil engineering, or infrastructure.
- Strong competence with Microsoft Project (MSP) - essential for this role.
- Detailed understanding of NEC3 / NEC4, particularly Cl.31, Cl.32, and Cl.60.
- Experience producing NEC-compliant programmes aligned with specification appendices 1 / 13, 1 / 16, 1 / 17.
- Comfortable working on live, public‑realm sites with traffic management, utilities, and operational constraints.
- Ability to manage multiple live sites and deliver timely programme updates across a busy portfolio.
- Analytical, structured, and confident communicating with site teams.
- Full UK driving licence essential.
