Supply Chain Manager (Fixed Term Contract)
Role SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to join our team on a Fixed Term Contract providing maternity cover. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer. This role requires a proactive, solutions-focused leader with strong communication skills and solid technical expertise. You will oversee end-to-end supply chain operations, ensuring efficient material flow, cost-effective sourcing, and excellent service to internal and external stakeholders.
You will also play a key role in supplier management, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
- Identify, assess, and manage qualified suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and quality standards.
- Monitor supplier KPIs, manage underperformance, and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Develop cost-effective sourcing strategies and ensure materials meet specifications.
- Lead strategic procurement for electrolyser systems and track global supply market trends.
- Collaborate with R&D, production, and logistics to plan future material needs and ensure efficient storage and transport.
- Manage supply chain budgets and ensure cost-effective purchasing.
- Identify savings opportunities, optimise supplier terms, and track key cost metrics.
- Oversee daily material flow aligned with production schedules.
- Coordinate with internal teams and logistics providers to optimise lead times.
- Manage inventory levels and implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor team members and support departmental workload during absences.
- Develop strategies to mitigate supply chain risks, including shortages and geopolitical factors.
- Monitor market dynamics and maintain contingency plans for critical materials.
- Maintain accurate records of contracts and purchasing activities.
- Ensure compliance with regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
- Set material quality standards with QA teams and monitor supplier performance.
- Conduct audits, resolve quality issues, and support continuous improvement.
- Lead and develop a high-performing supply chain team.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Align supply chain objectives with wider business goals.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficient with ERP systems, supply chain software, and data analytics.
- Experience managing supply chain risks and working with global suppliers.
- Knowledge of ISO standards and industry compliance.
- 5–7+ years' supply chain management experience, ideally in manufacturing.
- Proven success in supplier management, sourcing, and cost control in complex environments.
