Facilities Manager

Are you a facilities professional ready to make a difference to young lives in Doncaster? Join us as our Facilities Manager and help to provide services that young people can rely on.

We are looking for an organised person to take the lead on ensuring safe, functional, clean and welcoming facilities. This will include preparing reports, carrying out regular audit /safety checks and associated administrative duties.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the buildings meet our own Health and Safety standards, and that relevant procedures are being complied with.

You will be working with our established systems, conducting regular checks to ensure that the buildings and site are properly maintained, cleaned and well-presented. This will include supervisory responsibilities and the oversight of external contractors.

As a part of our management team, you will be involved in dealing with staffing, client or other issues across the organisation as they arise, and you will be part of our On Call rota.

You will be able to develop a understanding of our various services and users, and particularly the issues arising in an accommodation setting for young people.

You will have recent relevant experience, an understanding of relevant Health and Safety / maintenance issues and great organisational skills.

This is an on site position and not generally suitable for dispersed working.

Core hours will be between 8am and 6pm, with some cover required across the full rota as necessary.

The On Call provision is in place at all times, including weekends, nights and Bank Holidays, and is covered on a rota basis with three or four individuals.

We are able to take a reasonable number of other committments into consideration when planning the On Call rota, with each person doing an equal share of Bank Holidays, weekends and everyday cover.

To carry out a variety of duties overseeing the safety, maintenance, upkeep and cleaning of YMCA Doncaster’s properties and premises.

• To check that all facilities comply with Health and Safety, maintenance and organisational standards, that procedures are complied with, and that matters arising are addressed promptly.
• To supervise the facilities team including during recruitment,indentationand training.
• To engage and oversee contractors in accordance with policy requirements, including for proactive safety testing and the resolution of repairs.
• To complete appropriate Health and Safety risk assessments to cover the scope of the YMCA’s premises and activities.
• To deliver appropriate Health and Safety inductions and toolbox talks for staff, volunteers, residents and others as required.
• To advise senior staff on matters impacting policies or procedures, and to bring day‑to‑day experience to developmental / strategic discussions.
• To contribute to gathering information and evidence relating to the regulatory framework for registered providers, safety issues and other licencing and similar matters.
• To manage specified income and expenditure budgets, ensuring good value.
• To provide regular and occasional reports as required, including for the monitoring of targets.
• To contribute to audits and the checking of records, and to deal with designated matters arising including coaching and instruction of staff at various levels.
• To manage relationships with commercial letting and car parking customers.
• To oversee IT hardware and infrastructure across YMCA Doncaster, working with the external contractor as necessary.
• To assist with the oversight of insurance arrangements, including overseeing designated claims.
