The role

Location:

Hybrid – 2 days per week in Dorking plus 1 additional day in Dorking, Basingstoke or London.

Unum UK is looking for an Actuarial Systems Manager to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of actuarial science, data, and technology—supporting external reporting, driving automation, and enhancing the systems and processes that underpin our business.

In this role, you’ll lead and contribute to work across areas such as Solvency II, US GAAP, and UK GAAP reporting, actuarial systems development, and capital modelling. You’ll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, provide technical insight, and play a key role in shaping the future of our actuarial systems capabilities. You’ll also support and coach actuarial trainees, contribute to process improvement initiatives, and help ensure the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of our actuarial models and data.

What

you will bring
  • Qualified Actuary - could be newly qualified
  • Proficiency in SQL and Excel, with experience in actuarial modelling systems.
  • Familiarity with tools such as RAFM, Unify, Emblem, R, Python, or Power Query (or a willingness to learn).
  • A degree in a numerical or analytical subject and/ or experience as a current or former actuarial student.
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders.
  • A proactive, curious mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
