Senior Counsellor and Wellbeing Worker at Young People Charity

Step Forward is seeking a Senior Counsellor and Wellbeing Worker to provide high quality therapeutic support to young people and clinical supervision to honorary counsellors. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people aged 11–25 years and combine direct therapeutic work with leadership responsibilities. You will be a passionate and skilled individual that will help us to shape services that reach young people facing complex challenges in East London.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high quality and confidential 1:1 counselling and wellbeing support in a range of settings
  • Deliver clinical supervision to Step Forward honorary counsellors/therapists
  • Facilitate small group sessions and wellbeing
  • Support engagement with young people who are less likely to access traditional mental health services
  • Lead and/or contribute to service improvement initiatives
  • Monitor and evidence the impact of therapeutic interventions
  • Build and sustain partnerships with external agencies (e.g. CAMHS, schools)
About You
  • A recognised qualification in Counselling or Psychotherapy (accredited or working towards)
  • Supervision qualification and experience providing clinical supervision to practitioners
  • Extensive experience delivering evidence-based short, medium, and long-term therapy
  • Experience supporting young people with a wide range of presenting issues (e.g. anxiety, depression, bereavement, trauma, abuse, identity and relationships)
  • Minimum 2 years’ counselling experience with young people aged 11–25
  • Experience working in school and multi-agency environments
  • A commitment to holistic, young people centred care
  • Strong safeguarding expertise, including managing complex cases and multi-agency working
  • Leadership and/or mentoring skills to support colleague’s professional development
