R&D Testing and NPD Engineer Lead

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 – 17:00

Are you a technically minded engineer with a passion for product testing, certification and innovation? An established manufacturer of high‑performance building products is seeking an experienced R&D Testing and NPD Engineer Lead to join their expanding Technical and R&D team.

As the R&D Testing and NPD Engineer Lead, you will plan, coordinate and deliver the company’s product testing and new product development programmes, ensuring all products meet compliance, certification and commercial standards while supporting innovation across the business.

• Lead the planning and delivery of product testing and R&D projects in line with the company’s development roadmap
• Manage testing processes – including scoping, quotations and coordination with external test providers
• Prepare detailed technical documentation and certification submissions
• Carry out testing programmes, including ad‑hoc trials for bespoke projects
• Oversee project management aspects such as scheduling, budgeting and reporting
• Work cross‑functionally with Technical, Supply Chain and Operations teams to drive product and process improvements
• Liaise with certification bodies to create and maintain product scopes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Produce or coordinate CAD drawings and technical documentation for internal and external use

• Proven experience in a technical, R&D or product testing role – ideally within construction, manufacturing or building products
• Familiarity with UK product certification standards such as EN1634‑1 or BS476 (advantageous)
• Excellent attention to detail, documentation and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to manage both internal and external stakeholders
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable working with data and internal systems
• CAD proficiency preferred but not essential
• Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with strong commercial awareness
