Work summary:

As an AutoCAD draftsman with a strong understanding and background in interior design, carpentry and fit-out principles, you play a vital role in transforming design concepts into accurate, detailed and functional technical drawings. Your expertise in AutoCAD, combined with your in-depth knowledge of interior design, carpentry and fit-out concepts, will enable you to create drawings that guide the successful execution of projects in this specialized field.

Basic tasks:

Technical drawings and documentation:

Create detailed technical drawings, including floor plans, elevation drawings, section drawings and construction details, using AutoCAD.

Ensure that drawings adhere to industry standards, building codes, and project specifications.

Collaborate closely with interior designers to understand the design vision and intent of each project.

Incorporate interior design elements and concepts into technical drawings to ensure consistency with overall aesthetic and functional goals.

Experience in carpentry and finishing:

Apply your knowledge of carpentry and finishing principles to create precise, custom carpentry and millwork drawings, such as cabinets, built-in furniture, and wall panels.

Make sure the joinery and fittings elements blend seamlessly into the overall design.

Selection of materials and products:

Assist in selecting materials, finishes, and products that conform to project specifications and design concepts.

Create product schedules and purchasing specifications.

Quality assurance:

Review and verify drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design, carpentry, and fit-out requirements.

Identify and address design and construction issues through coordination with the design team.

Software efficiency:

Stay up to date on the latest AutoCAD features and technologies, as well as other related design and drafting tools.

Use software to efficiently and accurately translate design concepts into technical drawings.

Documentation and record keeping:

Maintain drawing records, archives, and project documentation organized and up-to-date.

Prepare project documentation for client proposals, project approvals and project tracking.

Collaboration and communication:

Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including interior designers, project managers, clients, contractors and suppliers.

Participate in design and coordination meetings to ensure alignment with project objectives.

Project support:

Provide valuable support during the construction phase by clarifying the design intent, assisting with contractor inquiries, and reviewing shop drawings relating to carpentry and fit-out elements.

Qualifications and skills:

Degree or diploma in architecture, interior design or related field.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant design and drafting software.

Strong understanding of interior design, carpentry and fit-out principles.

In-depth knowledge of architectural and interior design concepts.

Attention to detail and accuracy in creating technical drawings.

Familiarity with building codes and regulations.

Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Expertise in materials, finishes and products used in interior design, carpentry and fit-out projects.

Exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
