Overview

We are seeking an experienced Bridge Engineer to lead technical analysis, design and assessment of bridge projects. The role requires advanced knowledge in civil, structural and bridge engineering, with an emphasis on safety, compliance and client collaboration.

Responsibilities and Authorities
  • Perform analysis of structural forces, stresses and loads to ensure bridges are safe and meet safety standards.
  • Review structural calculations and use computer software to model bridges and test different design options.
  • Inspect construction sites regularly to verify work quality matches the design plans and resolve issues.
  • Assess the condition and safety of existing bridges by identifying damage, corrosion and structural problems.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and attend meetings with clients and authorities.
Technical Expertise
  • Deep understanding of mathematics, physics and mechanics.
  • Knowledgeable in forces through different bridge types and can calculate stresses and strains.
  • Understanding of concrete and steel properties, including strength, durability and corrosion protection.
  • Understanding of soil mechanics and foundation design for stable bridge support.
  • Know‑how in hydraulics, seismic, wind and temperature effects on bridges.
  • Competencies in bridge construction sequences, phasing, launching and segmental techniques.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SAP
    2000, ETABS, STAAD, Revit, finite element modelling, statistical analysis tools etc.

Upstream activities

  • Assist in commercial actions to link client needs and Bureau Veritas services.
  • Prepare technical aspects of tenders, including scope of work, planning and cost structure.

Downstream activities

  • Participate in execution of missions, alone or within a project team.
  • Liaise with client, designer and/or project manager.
  • Manage design review phase of the project, as per scope of work and Bureau Veritas/client quality system.
  • Execute reporting on tasks and cost building‑up.
  • Contribute to project reporting.
Self‑Management & HSE Requirements
  • Respect security guidelines and safeguard personal security.
  • Actively participate in sharing knowledge and information.
  • Follow HSE policies, report incidents and ensure PPE usage.
Qualifications
  • University Degree in Civil/Structural/Bridge Engineering.
  • Post‑graduate Degree in Structural/Bridge Engineering (preferred).
  • Not less than 5 years as Bridge Engineer.
  • Independent technical documentation and client engagement experience.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
  • Core knowledge in advanced mathematics, mechanics, strength of materials, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and vibration analysis.
  • Geotechnical knowledge for foundations, soil behaviour and bearing capacity.
  • Technical competencies in structural analysis and design with concrete, steel and composite materials.
  • Familiar with different bridge types and components.
  • Load analysis using design standards such as AASHTO.
  • Application of hydraulics, seismic and bridge dynamics principles.
  • Advanced knowledge in engineering design and analysis software.
  • Familiarity with international building codes, environmental regulations, safety engineering and risk management.
