Senior Technical Engineer – Glazing (Steel & Aluminium)

Key Responsibilities – Steel & Aluminium Glazing Systems Engineering and Technical Support- Deliver expert advice and technical support for the design, specification, and installation of steel and aluminium glazing systems, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Develop accurate quotations, technical submittals, and bespoke proposals, aligned with the latest standards and architectural specifications.
- Interpret and review architectural drawings, design intent documents, and specification schedules, offering effective, compliant glazing solutions for a variety of commercial and residential projects.
- Collaborate closely with sales, estimating, operations, and procurement teams to optimise glazing system selection, costings, and delivery schedules.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to stakeholders, providing clarity on product performance, compliance, and application suitability.
- Resolve technical queries and challenges throughout the life cycle of glazing projects through clear and timely communication with internal and external project teams.
- Comprehensive knowledge of steel and aluminium glazing systems, including façade, window, and door assemblies, curtain walling, fire‑rated and security glazing applications.
- Strong understanding of relevant standards (BS, EN, CE, CWCT), building regulations (Part L, Part K, Part B etc.), and test certification requirements for glazing systems and hardware integration.
- Experience in reviewing structural calculations, thermal and acoustic performance data, and compliance documentation for steel and aluminium glazing products.
- Proficient at evaluating and interpreting technical drawings, elevation plans, and system layouts, supporting robust design solutions.
- Competent with digital design, estimation, and project management tools, alongside measurement and planning platforms specific to the glazing industry.
- Present technical and commercial information confidently and clearly to architects, contractors, developers, and end users.
- Implement effective sales and negotiation strategies to secure complex glazing projects and long‑term partnerships.
- Build and sustain lasting client relationships through solution‑focused consultation, technical support, and aftercare.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure technical insights support the commercial success and operational delivery of glazing packages.
- Apply analytical thinking to address specification, installation, and compliance issues across a wide range of glazing projects.
- Identify project risks and propose alternative design or installation approaches to maintain performance standards and satisfy client objectives.
- Champion process improvement and knowledge sharing by regularly reviewing completed projects and sharing lessons learned.
- Effectively manage numerous concurrent projects, maintaining quality and accuracy even under tight deadlines and shifting priorities.

- Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Services, Architecture, or related discipline preferred.
- At least 4 years’ technical, sales, or engineering experience in the steel and aluminium glazing industry, ideally covering façades, curtain walling, and bespoke glazing solutions.
- Thorough working knowledge of building regulations, performance standards, and best practice for glazing system design and installation.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office, estimation and project platforms, and CRM or digital tools used in glazing project management.
