Metal Works Draftsman

GCL is looking to hire a Metal Works Draftsman who is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed fabrication and shop drawings & submittals for metal structures, components, and assemblies. The role involves coordinating with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure drawings meet project requirements, industry standards, and shop capabilities.

• Drafting & Design
• Prepare 2D and 3D Fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and assembly drawings.
• Create cutting layouts, BOQs, MTOs, and material lists.
• Produce section views, detailed views, and exploded diagrams for fabrication.
• Use AutoCAD and/or 3D modeling software (Solid Works, Inventor, Tekla).
• Technical Coordination
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Coordinate with site teams, engineers, and supervisors to clarify drawing details.
• Conduct site measurements when required.
• Metal Fabrication Knowledge
• Apply knowledge of steel, stainless steel, aluminum and fabrication processes.
• Incorporate correct weld symbols, tolerances, bending allowances, and machining details.
• Ensure drawings comply with industry standards (ISO, ASTM, AWS).
• Documentation & Quality
• Maintain proper revision control and document numbering.
• Prepare as-built drawings after project completion.
• Ensure accuracy and quality of all drawings before release to the fabrication team.
• Project Support
• Assist in estimating material quantities for tenders or ongoing projects.
• Support production teams with drawing clarifications and technical guidance.
• Monitor drawing progress to ensure timely release.

• Minimum Qualification: Diploma/ITI/Engineering in Mechanical, Drafting, or related field.
• 2-5 Years in metal fabrication, steel works, or mechanical drafting.
• Knowledge of CNC cutting, laser cutting, bending, and machining.
• Familiarity with construction or industrial metalwork projects.

• Job Specific:
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) mandatory.
• Experience with 3D software (Solid Works, Inventor, Tekla) preferred.
• Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes, welding details, and sheet metal work.
• Ability to calculate bending allowances, angles, and material take-offs.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
