The Technical Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating all post‑order engineering activities, including design, development, and control of the electrical systems for customer projects.
Eaton’s projects can involve every aspect of power distribution from low to medium voltage, UPS (uninterrupted power supply), and automation such as EPMS (Energy Power Monitoring System) and SCADA.
This technical coordination role ensures technical clarification of interfaces between customer stakeholders (tech consultants, construction, engineering teams…) and internal stakeholders (production engineering teams, suppliers engineering department, software development, etc.).
The role also supports application engineering teams during pre‑order technical engagements on a need basis.
Such projects mainly address datacenter, transmission and distribution utilities, and oil & gas applications, but could include other types of large and complex projects requiring system integration.
Working as an integral part of the customer project execution team, the PE is primarily an office role, with occasional travel to suppliers, Eaton manufacturing facilities, client offices, and construction sites during pre‑order/post‑order phases.
The role requires an experienced, composed, highly motivated electrical engineer who can effectively communicate and work with a wide variety of stakeholders in a dynamic environment and who demonstrates an understanding of all project electrical requirements.
The PE liaises with engineering consultants, general contractors, subcontractors, and clients, ensuring that technical deviations and scope incrementals are flagged and coordinated with the customer before implementation.
What You’ll Do- Responsible for technical scope management of projects, including but not limited to CDE review and coordination with all relevant stakeholders (internal, external…) from sales hand‑over to close‑out
- Ensure technical alignment between projects and coordination with customer
- Support PM to manage technical risk by ensuring rapid sharing of lessons learned and coordination of approach for maximum effect
- Analyze technical drawings, interpret specifications, and determine the electrical requirements of a given project
- Coordinate and liaise with Eaton engineers (application engineers, product engineers, power system engineer, CX team, quality engineers…) and client stakeholders to ensure overall project execution
- Provide and manage technical documentation and tech subs (SLD, layout, site methods, CX process and sequence) for any required projects
- Manage and monitor all assigned electrical projects to ensure documentation is delivered on time
- Ensure health and safety codes are obeyed at all times
Complete quality assurance on electrical components and projects, and write up reports - Support root‑cause analysis in case of quality events
- Site assignment for a short period of time may be necessary depending on progress of the project execution
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in electrical design from a system perspective (MV/LV)
- 5+ years of experience in customer project management
- 5+ years of experience in datacenter construction projects is a plus
- UPS/MV CX experience is a plus
- Electrical & system engineering with power distribution knowledge
- Basic electrical calculation knowledge
