JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is recruiting for a Lead Piping Engineer to join its UAE Business Unit focusing on executing assigned scopes of work for a Major Onshore Brownfield Project in Dubai, UAE. This role is a full-time office-based position in Dubai with a travel requirement.

• Definition and approval of technical scopes.

• Assist in establishing project aims and outcomes to contribute to a comprehensive project design.

• Make recommendations on project organization requirements, work methods and technical innovations.
• Supervise and participate in the delivery of complex engineering tasks.
• Formulate and direct investigations, prototypes, models, and system studies; interpret data and recommend practical applications.
• Resolve issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and complex coordination.
• Coordinate implementation of design engineering solutions and review project documentation for accuracy.
• Adhere to discipline-specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
• Manage key stakeholders during the execution and delivery of contracted activities.
• Organize and lead design reviews.
• Provide expert advice on design processes and construction methods.
• Advise on development of new engineering methods and participate in short and long‑range planning.
• Act as Technical Authority when appointed and evaluate options to optimize technical and financial success.
• Contribute to business development through relationship building and delivering to clients.
• Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals.
• Supervise technical specialists or engineers responsible for complex tasks and provide coaching and mentoring.
• Monitor compliance with competence standards and support recruitment, selection, and promotion of resources.
• Provide technical direction to project team members and ensure compliance with HSSE leadership.

• ISCED Level 6 Bachelor’s (minimum) or Level 7 Master’s (preferred) in an engineering discipline. Equivalent experience may be considered.
• Chartership, PE status, or a relevant professional license/registration is preferred.

• Typically requires more than 10 years of progressively responsible experience; multidiscipline knowledge and quality management standards are required.
• Technically competent in own discipline with continuous professional development in line with standards.
