The role holder is responsible for administering, managing, optimizing, and securing the organization's databases, ensuring data integrity and availability. This role exists to support data-driven decision-making, enhance system performance, and safeguard sensitive information. The role holder shall carry out his duties in accordance with the stipulated business policies and procedures.

Work Experience – Minimum of 7 years experience in database administration, design, and management.

Technical Skill – Proficiency in SQL and database management systems (e.g., MySQL, Postgre

SQL, Mongo

DB). Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP). Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).

Certifications – Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator, or Mongo

DB Certified DBA are advantageous.

Legal and Compliance Understanding – Understanding of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR) and best practices in database security.

• Adhere to and enforce all relevant policies, processes, and standard operating procedures.
• Identify opportunities for improvement of systems, processes, and practices.
• Design, implement, and manage database schemas.
• Ensure database efficiency, integrity, and availability.
• Enforce data security protocols and ensure compliance with data protection laws.
• Regularly update and manage access permissions and systems.
• Implement robust data backup solutions to prevent data loss.
• Establish and test recovery plans.
• Monitor database performance and fine-tune when necessary.
• Analyze system health and optimize for operational efficiency.
• Provide timely resolution for database-related issues.
• Offer technical support to end-users and team members.
• Develop and implement database changes and updates.
• Optimize queries and indices for performance gains.
• Document technical procedures, configurations, and schemas.
• Prepare detailed reports on database status and activity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align database strategies.
• Share knowledge and best practices with team members.
• Stay updated with the latest database technologies and trends.
• Participate in workshops and training sessions to enhance skills.
