The Special Projects & Investigations team is looking for a motivated, data‑savvy risk manager to act as a force multiplier supporting our team's mitigation and prevention of fraud and abuse. This position will manage a portfolio of Gap prevention projects aimed at making it harder for bad actors to operate on our stores as well as internal team mechanisms. You will interact with partner teams and stakeholders in operations, product, risk, tech, and science roles in order to execute against your projects.

An ideal candidate is highly flexible, a strong communicator, and demonstrates significant bias for action, and loves diving deep.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Complete risk analyses using complex data sets (SQL, Python, R etc.).
  • Use high‑level judgment to own our most complex risk mitigation and prevention initiatives.
  • Identify gaps and risks in Amazon's current mechanisms and policies and recommend solutions to product/policy owning teams.
  • Use data and/or technical skills to discover new ways to scale risk signals resulting in the identification of abuse risk.
  • Break problems into manageable pieces, meticulously prioritizing, and delivering results in an ambiguous and constantly changing environment.
  • Conduct large scale deep dives to derive insights about abuse, identifying gaps and risk in Amazon's current mechanisms, systems, and policies.
  • Discover solutions and convey detailed technical knowledge (verbally, in writing, and via diagram) to engineering, legal, and program/product management teams.
A Day in the Life
  • Deep dive gap root causes and learn the mechanics, partner teams, and requirements.
  • Propose and gain alignment on mitigation and prevention plan with partner team stakeholders.
  • Launch, monitor and communicate with stakeholders about the progress of current mitigation and prevention.
  • Influence stakeholders to adopt, integrate, or fix gaps in order to allow sun setting of existing mitigations.
  • Monitor reporting of established mechanisms and evaluate for effectiveness.
  • Inspect metrics and anecdotes to find false positives and false negatives, then develop improvements to address misses.
  • Listen, learn, engage, communicate, execute, analyze, and influence.

The Trust & Store Integrity team (TSI) is responsible for creating a trustworthy shopping experience across Amazon stores worldwide by protecting customers, brands, selling partners and Amazon from fraud, counterfeit, and abuse as well as empowering, providing world‑class support, and building loyalty with Amazon’s millions of selling partners. The Special Projects and Investigations (SPI) team within TSI designs and implements policies, tools and technology innovations to protect customers by identifying and preventing abuse worldwide.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of program or project management experience.
  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements.
  • Experience working in risk/fraud analysis or in compliance organizations (equivalent or Bachelor's degree).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization.
  • Experience in project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field, or 3+ months of information security and compliance experience.
