Responsible for maintenance and repair of MODU electronic control and support systems, electronic components and interface systems. Monitors all rig electronic system operations, troubleshoots and repairs as necessary to support operations. Provides technical support for electronic systems to ensure rig efficiency and client objectives. Focuses on systems that keep maintenance operations running effectively and avoid downtime. Implements and upholds safety and environmental compliance requirements.
Assists the Technical Supervisor with effective maintenance procedures and ensures that the Noble Maintenance System is utilized efficiently. Supports the Electrician and Subsea Engineer as directed by the Technical Supervisor to support ongoing operations.
- Recognized trade qualification from a technical college/apprenticeship or equivalent preferred.
- 5+ years of documented experience as an Electronics Technician on a MODU.
- Completion of all training requirements for the position within the designated time period.
- If working on DP Semi-submersibles, a Flag State Maintenance Supervisor license is required.
- Superior troubleshooting skills and techniques.
- Complete understanding and use of the Noble Maintenance System.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to coach, motivate, and mentor others to develop their skills and knowledge.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to understand and interact with diverse groups and operations and to recognize and resolve conflict.
- Install, maintain and repair all electronic equipment onboard the rig.
- Ensure that all incomplete repairs and maintenance projects are finished safely, within the scheduled time frame, accurately, and efficiently to keep the backlog of work to a minimum.
- Ensure that equipment failure is kept to a minimum and within contractual limits.
- Ensure that entries on permits, isolation tags and logs accurately reflect the current status of equipment.
- Perform regular inspections of work sites and ensure the work is done within the confines of the permit.
- Track all programmable logic controls and software versions and update as required.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping onboard the rig in all work areas.
- Maintain good two‑way communication with crew members.
- Participate in the development of newly appointed team members.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for the rig's maintenance system, including creation, distribution, assignment and verification of planned corrective work orders within the Electronics Department.
- Advise others of modifications, changes to procedures and/or frequencies that will improve the Noble Maintenance System and remain compliant with the Management of Change System on an ongoing basis.
- Participate in daily departmental meetings at each shift change to discuss and inform personnel of safety and general issues concerning the maintenance department.
- Implement and uphold Noble's safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all operations proceed safely and correct unsafe acts or conditions.
- Encourage and motivate personnel to observe safety and environmental policies and all intended and implied requirements of Noble's Management System.
- Familiarize and adhere to Noble's Live Safe Code to promote a zero‑incident and no‑harm workplace.
- Use Noble's Hazard Identification Tool to manage risk created by various energy sources in the workplace.
- Attend and actively participate in daily pre‑tour and weekly safety meetings.
- Ensure compliance with the requirements established in Noble's Management System.
- Initiate a safety stand‑down whenever an unplanned hazard or change in expected results is observed.
- Perform all safety critical tasks as detailed in the HSE Case.
- Incorporate the STOP the job planning process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team.
- Take the initiative to perform emergency duties without specific orders or instruction.
- Develop and implement Job Safety Analysis and prepare hazard assessments as required.
- Ensure compliance with all government regulations.
