Overview Of

The Role

The Maintenance Assistant ensures a safe, secure, clean, and functional environment for visitors and co-workers by maintaining the building and electro‑mechanical systems. The role involves performing improvement works and operational maintenance to uphold the IKEA brand image. Working closely with other departments and managing contractors and technicians ensures operational efficiency and compliance with safety regulations. The role requires effective communication and adherence to routines, maximizing efficiency and promoting the IKEA culture.

What

You Will Do
  • Contribute to maintaining the store in 'Shape as new' by performing building maintenance functions according to the planned maintenance process.
  • Rectify breakdowns and complete work orders and preventative maintenance as scheduled.
  • Perform and supervise modifications, renovation, and enhancement works; coordinate with third-party contractors/service providers for technical and financial offers for operation spare parts.
  • Implement Facility department routines and procedures by applying predictive, preventive, and reactive maintenance.
  • Work efficiently to maximize efficiency within the department.
  • Provide a safe work environment for all by following OSHA, local safety regulations, and IKEA risk manual guidelines.
  • Manage all maintenance activities related to electrical, mechanical, civil work, cladding, signage, lighting systems, and other maintenance work.
  • Survey MEP systems and equipment; validate system status and readings with original equipment/system parameters.
  • Foster a service-oriented approach with all departments.
  • Promote an environment where the IKEA Culture is a strong and living reality embracing the diversity of co‑workers and customers.
  • Follow and adhere to HSE policies and standards at all times.
  • Manage in-house activities, supervise external supervisors and facility management technicians.
  • Manage external contractors, evaluate their work, and certify invoices for payment.
  • Prepare various technical and progress review reports.
  • Support in developing and reviewing HSM SOPs.
  • Secure materials for MEP ordinary maintenance and tasks, as well as civil and fixing construction comments.
  • Support and backup the HSM in evacuation drills and safety matters.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate clear messages.
  • Proficient in leadership with skills like active listening, sharing clear messages, and simplifying complex ideas.
  • Strong technical skills related to maintenance management, particularly in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Flexibility and creativity in problem‑solving and operational improvements.
What Qualifies You For

The Role
  • Diploma in technical industrial education, specifically electrical or mechanical fields.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in maintenance and facilities management.
  • Knowledge of chilled water supply systems and energy transfer stations (ETS), mechanical systems (HVAC, Firefighting, water supply, etc.), and electrical systems (lighting, low/medium voltage systems, fire alarm, etc.).
