A Shot Blaster operates abrasive blasting equipment to clean, prepare, and shape metal surfaces for processes like painting or coating. Key duties include loading and unloading parts, maintaining equipment and safety protocols, and performing quality checks to ensure surfaces meet specifications. The role requires physical fitness, manual dexterity, and the ability to work in a potentially hazardous, fast‑paced environment.

• Operate shot blasting machines and related equipment to clean, deburr, or prepare metal surfaces.
• Load and unload parts into and out of the blasting chamber or cabinet.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all safety procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards.
• May operate other machinery like overhead cranes or forklifts.

• Equipment operation

  Use hand‑held hoses to spray abrasive media like steel grits at high velocity, or operate automated shot blasting machines.
• Material handling
  :
  Move parts to and from the blasting equipment.
• Safety and maintenance
  :
  Monitor equipment for proper function, adjust air pressure, and perform routine maintenance.
• Quality control
  :
  Examine surfaces for cleanliness and defects after blasting.
