Join Canonical as a Lead Golang Software Engineer in the Commercial Systems unit and help build production‑grade services that power the world’s leading cloud and technology enterprises.

The Commercial Systems unit comprises three engineering teams:

• Billing – Builds a scalable Golang service that turns metrics into billable amounts and provides customers with real‑time spend visibility.
• Contracts – Operates a single source of truth for all customer contracts, providing CPQ capability and integrating with CRM and accounting systems.
• Livepatch – Develops Golang components that deliver Linux kernel patches in real time, reducing the exploit window for critical vulnerabilities.

Remote – EMEA region.

• Develop engineering solutions leveraging Golang.
• Lead technical designs, code reviews, and implementation.
• Deploy and operate services developed by the team.
• Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to colleagues.
• Develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices.

• Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
• Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path.
• Track record of exceeding expectations to achieve outstanding results.
• Experience with software development in Golang.
• Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
• Result‑oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments.
• Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.

• Performance engineering and security experience.
• Experience with accounting, sales, sales operations, or other business roles.
